Quite an amazing adventure trying to get 9 people half-way decent in a photo!  The ladies at Sears were wonderful…and well, Emily was kinda smiling!

15 Wonderful Years! I LOVE YOU MARK!

Abbie took a photo of us trying to pose similarly to our wedding day.

Marriage is a gift of God.  We are so blessed that we have eachother.  We celebrated by dressing up, Abbie made me a corsage (I’m holding it in the photo.) and we went to my Sunday School for a baby / kid shower for Nathan and Kobe.  We were blessed with diapers and wipes and school supplies and a soccer ball for Yakobe, some gift cards, a zoo membership, more stuff I’m sure I’m forgetting, and a wonderful set of dishes!  We can actually eat on real dishes all together with no paper plates!
Thank you Sunday School ladies.
Afterward, we went to the Oakland County Fair.  My favorite part was petting the dogs that were up for adoption (No, I don’t want one) and petting the water buffalo in the petting zoo part.  Now I really know what I’m singing in the Veggie Tales Water Buffalo song!  Everybody wants a water buffalo!
Someday soon, I’d love to go on a date with my husband…somehow we have to figure out how!

Hopscotch & Jumperoo - Birthdays Too

Posted by admin on Jul 5, 2009 in Uncategorized

We had a fun week of watching our new sons have fun!  Nathan surprised me the last night of VBS at our church by jumping up off my knees as I held him.  This was really exciting as it shows his leg strength is greatly improving.  Here’s a video of him in the Jumperoo that a sweet friend graciously let us borrow for Nathan:

Yakobe is transitioning to the nickname “Kobe” (Ko - bie).  I thought of this name when I first saw the spelling of his name and he seemed kind of resistant to it at first.  After much explaining of how all our other children go by some sort of shortened name, he seemed to warm up to it and finally said, “Kobe, yes” with a big smile.

Kobe taught Sam and then the older girls an Ethiopian version of hopscotch.  I still haven’t learned all the rules as it seems pretty complicated, but Sam and Kobe have been at it constantly all week and love it.  It involves numbers and trying to jump in some order and then marking off one square as your home when you earn it and then no one can jump on your home.  Then, at some point, you balance a rock on your head and close your eyes and ask the other people playing if you should step big or little so you don’t step on lines.  Well, anyway, apparently it’s a bunch of fun!  Here’s a photo of them playing:

We also celebrated Sam & Kobe’s birthdays this week.  Sam’s turned 11 on the 21st of June and we chose Kobe’s 8th birthday to be May 19, Gotcha Day!  Sam was fine with celebrating the birthdays together.  Since we had a rainy week, Mark took the 10 boys to play sports at a nearby gym.  Then, they came back here and made t-shirt soccer jerseys with fabric markers, had pizza, cake and opened presents.  The big hit gift for Kobe was a nerf gun - he was SO excited!
